Frequently Asked Questions
This page lists a handful of questions we see a lot of support requests about. Take a quick look through if you're having trouble: you might not even need to spend the time writing your email.
I'm trying to add a station and it's not working! What's going on?The most common problem is an issue with Google's geocoder service. We use the geocoder to take the address you enter and find a latitude and longitude for it, so that we can place it on the map. The problem is that Google's geocoder occasionally doesn't have data for the address you've entered. You can check if this is the case with the form below (you'll need to have Javascript enabled for it to work):
If the address checker wasn't able to locate your address, the problem lies with Google. Google are aware that their geocoder is imperfect and are constantly working on improving it, so maybe try again in a month or so. In the interim, it occasionally works to specify an intersection instead of a street number (though we prefer the street numbers when they do work!); perhaps try that. Sorry we can't be more help, but this one's out of our hands. We're on the lookout for a better solution.
If the address checker was able to find your station's address with no trouble, keep in mind that there's a small delay in processing new station submissions, and double check the spelling of the station's name (we have a spam check in place that can be triggered by misspellings), but if you're still seeing problems, file a support request, including the address, and we'll take a look.
Relax. Every time you make a log entry, a copy gets sent to our server; it's one of the ways we get price data. So we can get the data back to you, no problem. All you need to do is to find your UDID, and file a support request, including your UDID. We'll get back to you ASAP with a recovery procedure that will get you back on the road in no time.
To find your UDID, follow these steps:
- Plug your iPhone / iPod Touch into your computer and wait until iTunes recognizes it.
- Select your iPhone / iPod Touch from the Devices list in iTunes and click the "Summary" tab.
- To see your UDID, click on the word "serial number" beside the picture of the iPhone / iPod Touch.
- You should see the word "identifer" and an alphanumeric string -- this is your UDID.
- To copy it, just press command + C on your Mac's keyboard (or control + C in Windows).
- You can then paste it into the support form with command + V on Mac (or control + V on Windows).
